Betty Jean Roark Brown, 82, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Broadway Healthcare Center in West Memphis.
Born in Camden, Betty was a 1947 graduate of Camden-Fairview High School and lived in Conway before moving to Jonesboro in 1953. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro.
Betty was active in the Sprig and Twig Garden Club and Four Seasons Garden Club of Jonesboro, and was an accredited Master Flower Show Judge for the Arkansas Federation of Garden Clubs. She was an accomplished artist in porcelain art and hand painted china as a member of the Dogwood China Club. It was said of her until the last days of her life, “she was a beautiful and sweet lady.” Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Dewitt and Lennie McMurray Roark, and two brothers: Phil Roark and Raymond Roark.
Survivors include:
2 daughters and their husbands, Mika and Herb Hyman of Horseshoe Lake and Katy and Joe Spake of Memphis;
1 son and his wife, Tim O. and Arleen Brown of Jonesboro;
2 brothers and sister-in-law: Winfred Roark of Little Rock, and Wendell and Janice Roark of Fordyce;
9 grandchildren: Georgia Hyman, Kayce Brown (Abby), Buddy Hyman, Sean Berry, Natalie Hyman, Meredith Brown Eble (Rob), William Berry, Whit Hyman, and Kelly Berry Quinn (Jason). And
4 great grandchildren: Konner Brown, Kolton Brown, Brodie Berry and Leyton Quinn.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with Rev. Patty Soward officiating. A graveside committal service will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 in McFarland Cemetery at Banks, Arkansas, with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be held Wednesday morning from 9:00-10:00 in Emerson Chapel.
Grandsons Kayce Brown, Buddy Hyman, Sean Berry, William Berry and Whit Hyman will serve as pallbearers.
