Betty Jane Brown

February 22, 1926 — May 14, 2009

Betty Jane Brown, 83, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, died Thursday morning, May 14, 2009, at her daughter’s home in Jonesboro.

Born in Dawson Springs, Kentucky, Mrs. Brown lived many years in Manchester, Tennessee before moving to Jonesboro 21 years ago. She was a retired microfilmer and homemaker and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Jonesboro.

Mrs. Brown was a former member of the Cumberland Valley Girl Scout Counsel of Tennessee. She served as Girl Scout camp director at Camp Tannassee and leader trainer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Brown.

Survivors include 1 son and daughter-in-law: Bradley S. and Brenda Brown of Manchester;

2 daughters and sons-in-law: Martha and Tom Block of Jonesboro, and
Gail and Bob Peffen of Columbia, South Carolina;

1 brother: John B. Gross of Ledyard, Connecticut;

6 grandchildren, and
2 great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, May 16, 2009, in Rose Hill Cemetery in Manchester with David Haley officiating, with Manchester Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers include Brad Brown, Tom Block, Bob Peffen, Michael Kesling, Kevin Clayton, Major Shelton. Honorary pallbearers include Jess Stafford, Allen Blair, Harley Melton

For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to the American Cancer Society or the Coffee County Education Foundation.
