Betty Ann Haggenmacher, 93, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at her home. She was born in Winner, South Dakota, and moved to Jonesboro in a covered wagon when she was 4 years old. Her parents, Claude and Emma Hart, completed this major cross-country journey to this area, where she lived the rest of her life. She worked at Pfeifer-Blass Department Store, which later became Dillards Department Store for over 38 years. Due to the love she had for her work family, she would work off-of-the-clock on Friday and Saturday nights, so the girls in her department could have a date. The time she spent helping the “younger” generation was never forgotten by her employees. While at Dillards, she was a “Pace-Setter” obtaining many service and sales awards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Haggenmacher; three sisters, Norma Daugherty, Billie Kay Caldwell, and Hazel Carter; three brothers, Howard Hart, Glenn Hart and Grady Hart.
Survivors include her son, Mark Haggenmacher and Debbie Demirorz of Little Rock; grandchildren, Tyler Haggenmacher and Patrick Haggenmacher and one great grandchild, Miles Haggenmacher.
The family wants to give special thanks to her caregivers, Sue Haggenmacher, her daughter-in-law, whom she thought of as a daughter; Frank Trusty, Tonya Jones, Brittany Jenkins, Marla Simpson, Felicia Caruthers, Jennifer Long and Dirksen Hospice.
