Betty L. Greer

Betty L. Greer, 75, of Cherokee Village, formerly of Jonesboro died February 25, 2019 at White River Health Systems. She was born March 7, 1943 in Jonesboro to her biological parents the late Walter and Helen Box Smith. At the age of 14 she met her forever love John E. Greer and he introduced her to her forever mom Permell Greer Seay and her forever dad John H. Greer. Betty completed High School thru the GED program. She later graduated from Miss Meltons Modern School of Business with a degree in Junior Accounting. Betty was a help mate to John on the farm, known as his Miss Jack of all trades. She worked at Colson Casters for a few years and also Flintrol. Betty was a manager at the Jonesboro Bowling Center. She then went back to helping John at the farm office. 6 years ago she retired to Cherokee Village with her husband.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John A. “Andy” Greer and 3 brothers, Steve Smith, Billy D. Greer and Frank Greer.

Betty leaves behind her husband of 60 years, John E. Greer; step-daughter, Tracy (Roy) Wiseman of Brookland; 2 granddaughters, Samantha Scalf and Breanna Wiseman both of Brookland; 4 sisters: Sandra Loop of Michigan, Jenny Mercier of Michigan, Mary (Billy Ray) Swindle of Jonesboro, Lorene Bailey of Olive Branch; 1 brother, Roger Smith of Florida; several nieces and nephews and cousins; her adopted family, Danny and Vickie Elrod and girls, Shele, Bekka, Kelsey, Annah and Claire.

Special friend Mary Bowers, neighbor for many years and good friend Edward Pruitt and a host of friends that she loved very much, each and every one added to the joy of her life and her special canine friend and constant companion, Little Girl.

Service will be Friday, March 1, 2019 at 10:00 am in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Edward Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow in Unity Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 am prior to the service.
