Betty Jean Grant

Betty Jean Grant, 86, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born in Number 9, Arkansas on February 21, 1937 to the late Coy and Willie Mae Northcutt. Betty graduated from Blytheville High School in 1955 and in 1956 married her husband of 65 years, Roy Grant they lived in Gosnell, in 1964 they moved to Jonesboro and later became members of Walnut Street Baptist Church. Betty was the office manager for the Lilly News Company for over 30 years.  She was an avid bowler having earned a plaque for going to state tournaments for 50 years. Betty was a wonderful cook and loved spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Grant; brothers, Orville, Hubert, E.J., and Billy; and sisters, Clara, Geneva, and Lillie Mae.

Betty is survived by her son, Roy Grant III (Sallie) of Bartlett, Tennessee; daughter, Susan Kee (Jack) of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Jessica Cooper (Jarrett) of Jonesboro, Jacob Kee of Jonesboro; step-grandchildren, Brian Oglesby (Jennifer), Greg Oglesby, and Emily Harper (Chris) all of the Memphis area; great grandchildren, Jace Cooper and Judson Cooper of Jonesboro; and step great grandchildren, Dalen Oglesby, Gabbie Oglesby, Charlie Harper, Winston Harper, and Kate Harper all of the Memphis area. She also leaves behind her friend group that she met with every morning at Hardee’s and a host of other family and friends.

The visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at Emerson Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Emerson Funeral Home with Grey Falanga officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park with the active pallbearers being Jarrett Cooper, Bryan Caldwell, Chance Williams, Brian Oglesby, Greg Oglesby, and Chris Harper. Honorary pallbearer will be Jacob Kee.
