Betty Brickell

Betty Lou Brickell, 95 of Cordova TN passed away peacefully hand in hand with family on June 6th 2024. She is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She was born in Flint, Michigan May 19, 1929 to the late Dave and Merle Halstead. At the age of 95 she lived an abundant life marked with love for her Savior, family, and friends. Betty spent her years lovingly and joyfully serving those around her. Her generous spirit and passion for caring for others is a legacy that will far surpass her earthly years. She was often found playing cards (Canasta) at the Bartlett Senior Citizens Center, growing roses in her garden, feeding and watching the birds and squirrels, or throwing parties for loved ones.

Betty was a longtime member of Southwest Church of Christ where she opened her loving home to host numerous Brother’s Keepers’ meetings.

Betty is joined by her husband James O. Brickell who she happily married to for 55 years. She is also joined by parents Dave and Merle Halstead and brother Bill Halstead.

She lovingly leaves behind daughter Becky Miller of Cordova, TN, daughter Tami and Jason Clay of Arlington, TN. Grandchildren Jonathan Miller of Memphis, TN, Taylor Clay and Hunter Clay of Arlington, TN. Her nephew Billy Halstead and wife Rhonda of Brookland,AR, great nephew Cody Halstead of Brookland, AR, and God daughter  Michelle Nutt of Mt. Pleasant, SC.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Emerson Funeral Home starting at 10:30 a. m. – 11:30 a.m. Graveside service will follow at 11:45 a.m. with Bro. Richard Akins officiating. Active pallbearers will include; Billy Halstead, Jason Clay, Cody Halstead, Jonathan Miller, Taylor Clay, and Hunter Clay
