Betty Ann Emerson

July 7, 1931 — January 29, 2015

Betty Ann Emerson, 83, of Jonesboro, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Betty was a native and life-long resident of Jonesboro and co-owner of Emerson Funeral Home. Betty was the organist at Walnut Street Baptist Church for several years. She is presently a member of First Baptist Church where she also played the organ and piano, was a member of the Mullally Sunday school class and the Womens Missionary Union where she is a past president.

Betty was an active member of two bridge clubs, Daughters of American Revolution, Craighead County Historical Society and the Jonesboro Chapter of Altrusa International. She was preceded in death by her parents: Lester and Naomi Cox Lewis; husband, Billy Joe Emerson; and three brothers: Jim Lewis, Bob Lewis and Freddie Lewis.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Dr. Steve and Melinda Emerson, and Toby and Lisa Emerson, all of Jonesboro;

Four grandchildren and their spouses: Amanda and Zach Fahlberg of Jonesboro; Brandon and Amanda Emerson of California, Kentucky; Bryan and Renee Emerson of Rome, Georgia; and Blake Emerson of Jonesboro; and

Five great grandchildren: Eli Emerson, Susan Emerson, June Emerson, Eva Emerson and Bryce Fahlberg.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Emil Williams and Brandon Emerson officiating. A private burial in Oaklawn Cemetery will precede the memorial service.

Members of Emerson Funeral Home staff, and Paramedics, EMTs and staff of Emerson Ambulance Service will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include members of the Mullally Sunday school class.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
