Beth Cossey, 71, of Jonesboro entered eternal life Friday, February 10, 2023 at Advanced Care hospital in Searcy. She was born August 28, 1951 in Marked Tree to the late George and Auvergne Byers. Beth was a member of Stone Ridge Church of Christ.

After graduating from Arkansas State in 1971 with Summa Cum Laude honors, and a degree in speech pathology, she started her first job at Brookland Elementary. This kickstarted a 40-year career in teaching, before retiring from Jonesboro Public Schools as a Special Education Teacher. Beth was an avid reader who loved to write, she wrote 2 books. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling, visiting Branson during Christmas time, and cooking delicious homemade meals. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Beth was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Murray Byers, John Mark Byers and a sister, Marilee Simpson.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Sam Cossey of the home; 2 sons, Matt Cossey of Jonesboro, Steven (Tracy) Cossey of Conway; daughter, Sarah Cossey Campbell of Jonesboro; brother, George (Sherri) Byers of Millington, Tennessee; 3 brother in laws, Bill (Paula) Cossey of Jonesboro, Sonny Simpson of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Kenny (Dawn) Boone of Memphis and 6 grandchildren: Gage McMillin of Jonesboro, Eli Campbell of Jonesboro, Kale Cossey of Jonesboro, Sydney Cossey of Jonesboro, Brenley Cossey of Conway and Evan Elizabeth Campbell of Jonesboro.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Dick Blackford and Bro. John Mundy officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
