Mrs. Bessie Stevens Mullins, 95, of Jonesboro, died peacefully Tuesday, October 10, 2006, at her home.
Born in Fredericktown, Missouri, in 1910, to David Crockett and Emma Stevens, Mrs. Mullins moved to Arkansas in 1911 and was raised in Randolph County with her five sisters and two brothers. She lived several years in Long Beach, California and Deming, New Mexico before moving to Jonesboro in 1986.
Mrs. Mullins was a member of Nettleton Church of Christ and Women for Crowley Ridge College. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend with a generous spirit and servant’s heart that will always be remembered.
She was preceded in death by her husband: O.H. “Moon” Mullins; 3 sisters: Barbara Slayton, Flora English, and Lena Morris; by a brother: Clarence Stevens; and by numerous family and friends that she loved very much.
Survivors include:
3 Sons and their wives: Ron and Vickie Mullins of Paso Robles, California,
Ed and Gayle Mullins of Avondale, Arizona, and
Neal and Eileen Mullins of Lakewood, Colorado;
2 Sisters: Lily Tibbs of Jonesboro, and
Lalla Ostergren of Dennard;
1 Brother: Frank Stevens of Deming, New Mexico;
5 Grandchildren: Debbie Mullins, Ron Mullins, Jr., Susan Mullins Gruenthal,
Michael Mullins, and Lance Mullins; and
9 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, October 14, 2006, at 2:00 at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with Jimmy Young officiating. Internment will be on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 in Deming, New Mexico.
Visitation will be held Saturday afternoon from 1:00-2:00, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Crowley’s Ridge Academy, 606 Academy Drive, Paragould, AR 72450.
