Bessie May Holmes

November 15, 1908 — February 4, 2006

Bessie May Holmes, 97, of Jonesboro, died Saturday morning at St. Elizabeth’s Place in Jonesboro.

Born in Water Valley, Mississippi, Mrs. Holmes lived in Chicago before moving to the Jonesboro area several years ago. She was a member of the Lake City Pentecostal Church and was retired from General Electric.

Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by 2 husbands: Johnny Hall and Charles Holmes; and by 2 sons: Walter Hall and Billy John Hall.

Survivors include:
3 Sons and Daughter-in-law: Wayne and Kathy Hall of Jonesboro,
David Holmes, and
Chuck Holmes, both of Michigan;

3 Daughters and Sons-in-law: Dorothy and Harold Olsen of Martin, Tennessee,
Wilma and Harold Davis of Markerville, Indiana, and
Mary Lemieux of Michigan;

1 Brother: Marvin Welburn of Water Valley, Mississippi;

20 Grandchildren, and
16 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with Rev. Harold Anderson and Rev. Larry Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery.

Active pallbearers include: Doug Davis, Michael Barnes, Donnie Pendergrass,
Jerry Beshiers, Buz Turner and Bill Pierce.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
