Bertha Pauline “Granny” Etter, 87, of Jonesboro, passed away on January 10, at her home. A native and life long resident of Jonesboro, a homemaker, and a member of the North Main Baptist Church, where she served as the “Nursery Granny” for forty nine years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie “Pop” Etter, her parents; Harvey and Annie Aunspaugh Yeates, and one son, Wayne Etter.
Survivors include four daughters; Ruby (Larry) Hinson, Sharon (Bill) Goodman, Karen Nicholson and Rhonda Clairday, all of Jonesboro. Four sons; Bob (Darlene) Etter, Gary (Emily) Etter, Mike (Linda) Etter, all of Jonesboro and Bill (Sarita) Etter of Hot Springs. Three brothers, Mickler Taylor of Bald Knob, Enoch Taylor of Tavaris, Florida and O’Neal Yeates of Lacy, Washington.
Twenty one grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday January 13, 2009 at the North Main Baptist Church with Revs. Tommy Stacey and Gary Brown officiating. Burial will be at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons.
Visitation will be from 5-7:00 P.M. Monday January 12, at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
