Bertha Mae Hightower

Mrs. Bertha Mae Hightower, 93, of Jonesboro, died Friday, January 9, 2009, at Skil Care Nursing Center in Jonesboro.

Born in Batesville, Mrs. Hightower lived in Davenport, Florida before moving to Jonesboro 38 years ago. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Jonesboro and was retired from Holly Hill Orange Juice Company in Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Ray Hightower; her daughter: Minnie Marie Bone; her parents: John and Sarah Hawkins; 2 sons: Charles Hightower and Raymond Hightower; 2 sisters: Alice Clark and Alma Butler; and 3 brothers: Elbert Hawkins, J.W. Hawkins and Harold Hawkins.

Survivors include:
6 Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon, January 11, 2009, at 1:00 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mackie Hawkins officiating.

A graveside committal service will be held Sunday afternoon at 4:00 in the Alderbrook Cemetery near Desha in Independence County.

Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 12 noon until service time in the chapel.
