Bertha Louise Carter, 84, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, December 25, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
Born in Booneville, Mississippi, Mrs. Carter moved to Marmaduke at any early age and then lived in Paragould and Detroit, Michgian, before moving to Jonesboro in 1961. She was a homemaker and a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Neil B. Carter, a daughter, Betty Reed, and a sister, Georgia Lee Evans.
Survivors include:
2 Daughters and Son-in-law: Lou Ann and Dennis Veteto, and
Norma Cook, all of Jonesboro;
Son and Daughter-in-law: Richard Neil (Rick) and Becky Carter of Jonesboro;
6 Sisters: Rachel Clayton, and
Judy Wheat, both of Marmaduke,
Pauline Carey of Alpena, Michigan, and
Ruby Weber,
Sarah (Mag) Murray, and
Jessie Midkiff, all of Rector;
5 Grandchildren: Jonna Johanson, Ted Veteto, Kelly Valdez, Jeremy Neil Carter, and
Elizabeth Ann Carter; and
3 Great Grandchildren: Haven Johanson, Bryce Neil Carter and Ava Isabella Valdez.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 at Walnut Street Baptist Church with Jerry Parker officiating, with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
A graveside committal service will be held Friday afternoon at 3:00 at Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery near Marmaduke with Marston Carpenter officiating.
Pallbearers include: Jeremy Carter, Gary Roberts, Dustin Blackshear, Kenny Wright,
Lorin Morgan and Scott Wheat.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, 5-8, at Emerson Funeral Home.
