Bert Marvin Hargett

Bert Marvin Hargett, 79, of Jonesboro passed from this life Friday, December 23, 2022 at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born to the late Terry and Ellen Hargett of Jonesboro on February 10, 1943.

He was a lifetime resident of Jonesboro and was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church and formerly a member of North Main Baptist Church.  Bert was a Baptist preacher and a very devoted Christian man. He enjoyed singing and was a song leader, when he wasn’t preaching. Bert was an avid deer hunter.

In addition to his parents, Bert is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; and one brother, Ron Hargett and his spouse, Rita Hargett.

Bert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Willadean Hargett, of the home; sons, Marvin (Melinda) Hargett and Danny (Tammy) Hargett both of Jonesboro; daughter, Toni Hargett of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren, Bradley, Mackenzie, Mallorie, Blake, Tiffany, Matthew, Austin, and Kimberly; and 11 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be from 9-10 am Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Emerson Funeral Home.

A funeral service will follow at 10 am Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Emerson Funeral Home with Bro. Glen Putman officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery with active pallbearers being: Marvin Hargett, Danny Hargett, Blake Moskop, Matthew Hargett, Austin Hargett, and Patrick Nelson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bradley Hargett.
