Bernice Osment Mitchell, 84, a lifetime resident of Jonesboro died Thursday, April 10, 2008 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was a member of South Caraway Road Baptist Church and in years past taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at various churches. She was an active member of the American Postal Workers Auxiliary and most of her life was devoted to her family, kids and grandkids. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Mitchell; her parents, G. N. and Gladys Osment; brothers, Neil Osment and Guy Osment Jr.; sisters Alda Osment McCulloch and Wanda Osment Walker.
She is survived by her sons, Steve and Jenny Mitchell, Jonesboro; Mike and Brenda Mitchell, Jonesboro; daughters Patty and Billy Yonce, Duncanville, Texas; Claudia and Ken Regan, Loveland, Colorado; eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Brothers Don Martin and Tag Green, grandson, officiating. Burial will be at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are Dr. Corey Diamond and Dr. O. H. Clopton. Visitation will be from 5 – 7:00 Friday, at Emerson Funeral Home.
