Benny Roedel

Benny Roedel, 72, of Jonesboro, died Thursday, March 3, 2011. He had lived in Jonesboro all of his life and was a member and deacon of Needham Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman loved his chosen profession as a rice and soybean farmer. He was proud of the fact he had harvested 48 crops. Benny was preceded in death by his son, Benny Von Roedel, his parents Roy “George” and Marie Roedel and one brother Roy Roedel Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sarah Roedel, of the home; one son, Tracey Roedel of Jonesboro; daughter, Rhonda Russell and husband Danny of Brookland; brothers, Albert Roedel of Bono; Bobby Roedel of Jonesboro and Rick Roedel of Jacksonville, Arkansas; one sister, Charlotte Wicker of Jonesboro; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, March 7, 2011 at Needham Baptist Church with Brother Steve Bricker and Brother Kenny Johnson officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery with his grandsons and nephews serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons at Needham Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 3-5 Sunday at Emerson Memorial Chapel.
