Benny was born on July 28, 1961 to James McGinnis and Dagmar Tronnier in Boulder, CO. He was a member of the Jonesboro High School class of 1979. After high school he attended Arkansas State where he played football for the Indians. He was a member of the Arkansas State University Letterman Club and the Arkansas State University Old Warriors Foundation. Benny loved to box, and helped train many boxers over the years. His favorite time of year was football season where he rarely missed a Red Wolf home game. He was a member the Pilgrim’s Lutheran Church in Jonesboro. His love for life and fun loving personality will be missed but never forgotten.
He is survived by his mother, Dagmar Tronnier and his sister, Debbie Zimmerman and her husband Patrick Zimmerman all from Ft. Collins, CO; his half-brother Jim McGinnis of Jonesboro. Uncles; Robert McGinnis, Carl (Debra) McGinnis, all of Jonesboro. Aunts: Florence (Bill) McLaughlin of Brookland, and Fay (Kenneth) Shaw of Jonesboro; Ramona Christman of Oklahoma and a host of other family and friends.
A memorial service will be
Friday evening at 6 pm
in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Eddy Hillis and Tommy Walker officiating. Burial will be private at Old Enterprise Cemetery
on Saturday morning
with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements. Honorary pallbearers are Benny’s former football teammates with Jonesboro High School and Arkansas State University.
Visitation will be
Friday from 5-6 pm
in the Emerson Memorial Chapel.
