Bennie Roberts Sr.,

Bennie Roberts Sr., 76, of Jonesboro died Saturday, October 13, 2007. He was born in Mount Herman, Louisiana and had lived in Jonesboro for two years after leaving New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a member of the State Line Baptist Church in Oyska, Mississippi and was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Roberts, one grandson, Ivory Manning and his parents.

Survivors include four sons, Bennie Roberts Jr., Chester Roberts, Ivory Roberts, and Michael Roberts; four daughters, Mildred Collar, Melinda Doughty, Barbara Smith, and Scholanda M. Roberts; four brothers, Issac Roberts, Emmit Roberts, Curtis Francis and John Roberts all of New Orleans; thirty-seven grandchildren and thirty-one great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 20, 2007 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor John Rapheal officiating Heritage Funeral Directors of New Orleans handling the Louisiana services with burial to follow in the State Line Cemetery in Oyska, Mississippi. Pallbearers are Lee Arthur Doughty, Clyde Smith Jr., Jermaine Smith, Corey Smith, Ernest Doughty and Ernil Roberts. Honorary pallbearers are his sons.
