Bennie Ruth Layne, 86, of Jonesboro, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at her home, surrounded by family.

Born in Beebe, Bennie Ruth lived most of her life in Jonesboro raising her family with her husband Bill. She was a long-time member of First Church of the Nazarene where she attended regularly and loved the Lord. Her passion was reading and she was seldom seen without an open book in her hand. Bennie Ruth watched Jeopardy! every day and loved camping and her garden full of flowers. But most of all, she loved her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Layne and her parents: Benjamin Leo and Maude Norton.

Survivors include 6 children: Kaye Applegate and Steve Layne, both of Salem, Rose Hardin (Lynn), Rita Allen (Gary) and Mickey Layne, all of Jonesboro, and Valerie Layne of Ash Grove, Missouri; 1 sister Erma Lou Brady of Jonesboro; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Pine Hill Cemetery with Pastor Sarah Scott officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.

The graveside service will be livestreamed on Facebook at Emerson Funeral home site.

The Arkansas Health Department Covid19 guidelines for safe social distancing will be announced and requested at the graveside service.
