Benjamin F. “Bennie” Griffin, 80, of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully Friday September 14, 2007 at Lakeside Nursing Home where he had been a resident since April of this year, 2007.
Bennie, as everyone knew him, served in the Army during World War II in Hawaii. After retirement, Bennie talked a lot about Hawaii and wanted to go back for a visit but his health wouldn’t let him. He was a Master Plumber for many years and enjoyed his work. If he wasn’t working, he was always puttering around in his workshop or visiting friends and neighbors and listening to his country music. He was of the Church of Christ belief.
Surviving are his two sons, Gary Griffin and Bobby Joe Griffin, of Brookland; two grandsons Connor Griffin and Garrett Griffin; Two brothers, Jimmy Griffin and Danny Griffin, all of Jonesboro; four sisters Dathel Lee, Jonesboro; Betty Smith, Yucaipa, California; Belva Murray and Sammie Bullock, both from Trumann, Arkansas and many nieces and nephews.
Bennie was preceded in death by his parents, J. A. “Bert” Griffin and Mary Ethel Griffin, an infant brother and sister; sisters Edna Inez Griffin, Tressie Juanita Sala; and the mother of his two sons, Sharon Griffin.
Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, September 17, 2007 at Pine Hill Cemetery with Brother Curtis Shatley and Brother Leland Worlow officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
