Ben Overman, 79, of Jonesboro passed from this life on December 1, 2017, at St. Bernards Medical Center with his family and friends by his side.

Benny Wayne was born on October 23, 1938 to the late Ben and Bessie Overman in Caraway. He was a member of the Caraway High School class of 1957. In his early career he coach and managed the All American Red Heads basketball team for 15 years. He also owned a professional women’s basketball team that traveled the country known as the Southern Belles. He worked for Basler Electric where he was assistant director. He started a company in the mid 1980’s named All Clean Janitorial, and later it became known as All Clean Restoration after Ben’s son Brett took over the company. He served as an assistant on the Arkansas State University Golf Team, and he also mentored many young golfers during his time. He also ran a company known as Do All Promotions Company where he would build and Restore vehicles for resale. Throughout his working career he was on the City Council in Caraway, past president of the Lion’s Club in Caraway, and served on the Craighead County Equalization Board. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jonesboro. His hobbies included playing golf, watching the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball and Arkansas State Red Wolves Basketball teams. He also coached little league baseball and girls softball many years ago. He was a very loving husband, father, brother, grandfather. His unique personality and contagious smile will be missed but never forgotten.

In addition to his parents Ben and Bessie Overman he was preceded in death by three sisters, Elouise Fires, Bettye Baugh, and Janis Dubois; three half-sisters, Darlene Watkins, Oberla Schmidt, and Mealise Alexander.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Pat Overman of the home; one son, Brett Overman and his wife Marley of Palm Beach, FL; granddaughter, Olivia Overman of Palm Beach and grandchild on the way; two brothers, Jerry Overman and his wife Linda of Conway and Roger Overman and his wife Debbie of Caraway; one half-sister, Patsy Kell and her husband Charles of Nashville, TN; brothers-in-law, Bill Baugh of Memphis, TN and James Dubois of Jonesboro; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be on Friday, December 15, 2017, at 11a.m. in the Wesley Hall at First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Miles officiating. Interment will be private with all services entrusted with Emerson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 until service time in the Atrium at First United Methodist.

Honorary pallbearers are John Frankel, Bubba Barnett, Jimmy Cooper, Gene Vance, Lee Brun, Lynn Haag, Steve Tricarico, Austin Kelly, Larry Grisham, Nathan Carter, Jerry Donahue, the Caraway class of 1957, and the All American Red Head Basketball Teams.
