Barry James Hutchison passed away peacefully at home with family surrounding him on Saturday, June 1, 2024 in Jonesboro at the age of 63. He was born on April 26, 1961 in Lawrence, KS. Barry is survived by his loving wife, Gail, of 34 years, his son Cody (Molly) of Lubbock, TX, daughter Kendall, of Jonesboro, brother Brent (Jodi) of Jonesboro, and mother-in-law/caregiver Arlene Jones of Jonesboro. Barry is preceded in death by his daughter, Brittany Anne Hutchison, and parents Dr. James and Sara Lou Hutchison.
Barry graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1979, and Arkansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1983 and Master of Science degree in 1984. He moved to Dallas, TX in 1984 and worked for various companies as a software engineer.
Barry was a devoted husband and father. He cherished his family above everything. Barry loved keeping up with Texas High School Football, especially the Plano Wildcats. He was a huge sports fan and loved cheering on the Dallas Cowboys; you would hear him often saying “how ‘bout them Cowboys”! Barry was a lifelong learner and could often be found buried in a book; he would enthusiastically share his knowledge with anyone who asked. Barry had a great sense of humor and loved making people laugh.
A Celebration of Life Reception will be held in his memory on Saturday, June 15th at Sunset Gardens (2510 Ecumenical Dr.) from 2:00-4:00 PM.
Memorials may be made in Barry’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
