Barbara Jean Winkles, 80, of Jonesboro, formerly of Trumann, departed this life on August 1, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 9, 1944, in Trumann, Arkansas, to the late Andrew and Thelma Campbell.
Barbara was a faithful member of the Church of God Prophecy and also attended Fairview Baptist Church alongside her devoted husband. She was known for her loving nature, strong faith, and the joy she found in life’s simple pleasures. Barbara enjoyed cooking, ceramics, crocheting, yard sales, flea markets, and watching her favorite soap operas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia Owens, Jo Ann Waltrip, Shirley Winkles, and her grandson, Trent Spence.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 60 years, Franklin Winkles of the home; two sons, Carl Winkles of Brookland and Harold Winkles of Crestview, Florida; five brothers, Harold Campbell of Wynne, Virgil "Buddy" Campbell (Patty) of Trumann, Dewayne "PeeWee" Campbell (Mavis) of Trumann, Arlen "Jinker" Campbell (Kathy) of Hardy, and Allen "Chubby" Campbell (Elaine) of Trumann; two grandchildren, Ashley McKelroy (Jeremy) of Jonesboro and Trevin Winkles of Hoxie; four great-grandchildren, Medley Fortenberry, Miri Fortenberry, Maggie McKelroy, and Ava McKelroy; along with several nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.at Emerson Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children, causes that were dear to Barbara’s heart.
