Barbara Riggs, 75, of Jonesboro passed from this life on January 31, 2018 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. She was born to the late Marvin and Ethel Coots in Cash, Arkansas on September 25, 1942. Barbara was a member of Northside Church of Christ in Jonesboro. She worked for Douglas MacArthur Junior High School for just under 32 years. Barbara was passionate about many things. The most important were her grandchildren, going to church, the St. Louis Cardinals, and wanting to win Publishers Clearinghouse! Barbara was a people person and enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. She would be the last person to leave any event because she was so busy catching up with everybody and just soaking up the moment. In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Coots.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 55 years, Conway Riggs of Jonesboro ; sons, Stephen Riggs (Dawn) of Paragould and Barry Riggs (Paula) of Jonesboro; brothers, Wayne Coots (Linda), Buddy Coots (Frankie), Larry Coots (Gloria), and Wade Coots (Kay); sisters, Mildred Rose and Shirley Coots; grandchildren, Hannah Williams (Seth), Zachary Riggs, Tawny Riggs, Madison Riggs, and Rex Riggs.

The visitation will be on Saturday evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Emerson Funeral Home with Mike Webb officiating. The pallbearers will be Keith Coots, Roger Rose, Shannon Rose, Michael Riggs, Chris Riggs, and Kevin Braswell. The honorary pallbearers will be Barbara’s nieces and nephews.
