Barbara Jean Pack

Barbara Jean Pack, 89, of Jacksonville, Florida passed from this life Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Ortega Gardens Care Center. She was born on May 7, 1931 in Memphis, Tennessee.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Pack; her mother, Jewell Jean Dowdy; and sister, Evelyn Murphy.

Barbara grew up in Jonesboro, Arkansas, where she met and married her husband.  After traveling to several states while he was in the Navy, they moved to Manhattan, Kansas where he attended college.  They finally settled in Overland Park, Kansas where they raised their children.  She worked for Rexall Drugstore, and managed the post office and Hallmark sections of the store.  After retirement they moved to Florida to be near family.  She was raised in the Baptist church, and continued to follow the Christian faith throughout her life.

Barbara enjoyed reading, gardening, and had beautiful flowers in her garden. She was a very sweet, loving person and always put others before herself. Barbara treated everyone around her with genuine kindness. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Barbara was known for her fried chicken and homemade cinnamon rolls. She was the perfect example of what a mother should be, full of goodness, joy and love.

Barbara is survived by her three sons, Norman (Terry) Pack, Larry (Donna) Pack, and David (Susan) Pack; daughter, Janis (Stephen) Evans; brother, David Cannimore; seven grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be from 1-2 pm Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Emerson Funeral Home.

A graveside service will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery at 2:30 pm Tuesday, December 15, 2020 .
