Barbara Ann Lewallen, 83, of Trumann passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born August 4, 1942, in Washington, D.C., to the late John Rankin and Mary Ellen Tackett Rankin.
Barbara was a graduate of Arkansas State University, where she earned her master’s degree in education. After receiving her degree, she taught English and French in Trumann for 32 years. She attended First Baptist Church in Trumann. Barbara served two terms as Mayor of Trumann and was very involved in the community.
She was civic-minded and worked for the Trumann Industrial Development Commission and the Chamber of Commerce. Barbara was also co-owner of Design Realty in Trumann for over 20 years. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, studying history, learning, and physical fitness. She believed in eating right and exercising. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Floyd.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Dick Lewallen of the home; one son, Richard Lewallen of Jonesboro; one daughter, Cynthia (Terry) Womble of Jonesboro; one brother, John (Frances) Rankin of Rogers; three grandchildren, Matt (Amy) Copeland of Germantown, Taylor (Rachel) Copeland of Jonesboro, and Kayla (Cole Morgan) Copeland of Jonesboro; and two great-grandchildren, Leo Copeland of Germantown and Raylee Copeland of Jonesboro.
A memorial service will be Monday, March 9, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Trumann with Bro. John Maley and Ted Walker officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
