Barbara Janette Geary

Barbara Janette Geary 76, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. Barbara was born in Scottsburg, Indiana on December 28, 1942, to the late Charles and Eloise Pirtle Smith. Barbara lived in Jonesboro since 1990 and was a member of the Greensboro Road Church of Christ.

Barbara received her Licensed Practical Nursing degree from the School of Nursing in Glasgow, Kentucky. She had worked in hospitals in Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, and also several nursing homes before she retired. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, L.J. Geary and brother Charles J. Smith.

Survived by her sister, Hilda Wilcox of Jonesboro.

Step-daughters, Debbie Arnold of Owensboro, Kentucky, Lisa Geary of Beaver Dam, Kentucky and Dee Dee Reynolds (Bill) of Georgetown, Indiana.
Also several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2019, in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Terry Joe Kee officiating. Burial will be in the Geary Family Cemetery in Horse Branch, Kentucky on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at 2:00 p.m., with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Visitation will be held from 2-3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2019, in Emerson Memorial Chapel.
