Barbara Nell Dawson

Barbara Nell Dawson, 81, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at her home. She was born to the late Jasper and Wanda Smith on March, 22, 1938 in Jonesboro. Barbara lived in Jonesboro until she was 15, when she moved to Renton, Washington. While in Washington, Barbara worked as a social worker for a short time before staring work with Boeing. She was of the Baptist Belief and enjoyed traveling, reading, and writing letters to family and friends. In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her brothers, Wayne Smith and Herbie Smith,

Barbara is survived by her husband, David R. Dawson; daughters, Teresa Jeanne Lucas Lamb, Lynda Joanne Lucas Simon, and Jamie Janelle Lucas Kenny; and sister, Carolyn Medema. Barbara also leaves behind several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation will take place from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Emerson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice.

Interment will take place at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in Renton, Washington at a later date.
