Barbara Vandiver Boyd, 85, a life-long resident of Jonesboro, died Sunday, October 31, 2021, at NEA Baptist Hospital. She was born to Ernest Murl and Virgie Smith on March 24, 1936. She was a member of the Washington Avenue Church of Christ. Barbara retired from Colson Casters after 41 years of loving her job. Travelling and enjoying seeing the fall colors was a yearly expedition. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchild was special. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Leon Vandiver and her brother, Al Smith.
Survivors include her husband of 31 years, L.J. Boyd of the home; sons, Mike Boyd of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Marty Boyd and wife Tonya of Jonesboro; grandchild, Neely Boyd; nieces, Tammy Smith and Tracy Holt.
Funeral services will be 2:00, Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Aaron Dodson and Bill Willard officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery with Mike Boyd, Marty Boyd, Dean Boyd, Doyle Neyman, Dale Taylor and Jeff Holt serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time on Wednesday.
