Art Brown, 83, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, January 21, 2013 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He had lived in Jonesboro since 1974, moving here from the Blytheville Air Force Base. Art was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was a member of the Pistols and Petticoats Square Dance Club and was well known in Northeast Arkansas as a square dancer and caller. Art was an award willing quilter, woodworker and excelled in his ability to sew. He was an active member in the local Ham radio club, and a MARS radio operator. Art retired as a Master Sargent in the US Air Force and served his Country as a Gunner on a B52 during Vietnam. He also retired as an Electronics Technician at Ringier here in Jonesboro. Art was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Marie Baker.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Jean Brown of the home; son, Jeff Brown (Stacy) of Jonesboro; daughters, Karen Brown Roman of Atlanta, Georgia and Kim Lewis of Conway; sister, Mary Robinson of Poplar Bluff and 4 grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be 2:00 Friday at Central Baptist Church with Brother Mike Martin officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time. Burial will be private.
