Aron Franklin Roberts, 96, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday evening, May 13, 2015, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
Born in Bay Village, Aron lived in different communities while growing up in east Arkansas. He worked in timber and sawmills and lived in Wynne before moving to Jonesboro in 1955. Once he moved to Jonesboro, Aron worked full time building houses and raising cattle and hogs.
Aron was a member of Trumann Missionary Baptist Church and was active in the Northeast Arkansas Coon Hunters Club. He also enjoyed fishing, duck hunting and squirrel hunting. Some of his favorites past times included long visits with his buddies and attending Saturday night potlucks and dances.
Aron was preceded in death by his wife, Coy Roberts; parents: Franklin Lavelle and Benjamin Jessee Smith Roberts; son Bruce Roberts; great granddaughter Mallory Kirksey; 1 brother, Marion Roberts; and 4 sisters: Margaret Roberts, Daphne Roberts, Opal Dougan and Ammanie McDaniel.
Survivors include 1 son, Lance Roberts of Colt;
8 grandchildren: Anthony (Gwen) Roberts, Keith (Lisa) Roberts, Tracie Roberts, Marshall Roberts, Brittani Roberts, David Lee Roberts, Brandi (Darron) Flowers and Eric (Camillia) Roberts;
13 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Miles Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Cameron Roberts, Garrett Roberts, Kyle Roberts, Eric Roberts, Marshall Roberts, Mike Lynn, Anthony Roberts and Keith Roberts.
Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
