Arlie Lloyd Pruitt

November 22, 1916 — January 13, 2016

Arlie Lloyd Pruitt, 99, of Jonesboro died on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born in Nettleton on November 22, 1916, to Willis L. Pruitt and Dona Swain Pruitt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twelve siblings, and his devoted wife of 68 years, Marilee.

A local contractor, he previously worked at Jakes and Evans Manufacturing in St. Louis and North American Aviation in Long Beach, California.

He was an avid basketball fan, following the career of his son, Barry, from his playing days at East Elementary School in the 1950’s to his coaching days at Jonesboro High School where Barry retired in 2009. He missed few games, often traveling on the bus with the team. Lloyd also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and spending time with his beloved dogs.

He was a Jehovah’s Witness.

He is survived by his son, Barry (Billie) Pruitt, his daughter, Barbara Hall (Ray), grandchildren, Michael Pruitt(Shannan), Casey Higgins(Rob), Matt Pruitt, Taylor Pruitt, Dr. Heather Coleman (Eric), Dr. Holly Hall, and Colin Hall. He also has seven great-grandchildren, Morgan Pruitt, Shelby Pruitt, Laney Higgins, Landon Higgins, Amelia Coleman, Ethan Byars, and Sydney Pruitt.

Services will be private with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society, P.O. Box 1042, Jonesboro, Arkansas 72403.
