Annette Farris

Annette Taylor Farris passed away on July 13, 2019. She was born in Elba, Alabama to Pinnie Bell and Bonnie Parrish Taylor on December 28, 1934. Annette married Harold L. Farris on August 7, 1953 while they were both students at Troy State University in Troy, Alabama.

She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, her parents, 3 brothers – Royce Taylor, Ed Taylor and Elmer Taylor and 3 sisters – Lucille Mayo, Annie Laurie Wright, and Olene Farrell.

Annette’s surviving family include a daughter, Lynn Suitt (Mike) of Jonesboro and a son, Mark Taylor Farris (Cindy Butler) of Batesville along with five wonderful grandchildren – Lindsey Suitt of Bentonville; Wesley Suitt (Rachel) of Richmond, VA; Taylor Farris and Sydney Farris of Lafayette, LA; and Molly Farris of Jennings, LA; three sisters – Frances Bannon of Pensacola, FL; Cupidean Clark of Enterprise, AL; and Jean Payne of Claremont, CA; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Annette was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Prior to her retirement she was employed for 23 years as the office administrator/legal secretary for Sabine Parish Louisiana District Attorney Don M. Burkett.

She and Harold moved to Jonesboro in 2001 to be near their children. They joined First United Methodist Church and Annette was active in the Harry Hill Sunday School class, the Priscilla Circle, and the WOW (Women of the Word) Bible Study small group.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, July 19, 2019 in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church in Jonesboro. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am in the Hon Lounge at the church. A private graveside service will be at 2:00 pm at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in Birdeye, AR.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church Care Team Ministry or to the First United Methodist Church MicoSociety Elementary Backpack Program, FUMC, 801 S. Main Street, Jonesboro, AR 72401.
