Anne Smith Roberts

Anne Smith Roberts, 84, of Jonesboro, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Anne lived life with love and optimism and was blessed with many friends. She grew up in Jonesboro, the daughter of M.D. and Madeline Smith who preceded her in death.
A 1949 graduate of Jonesboro High School, she attended College of the Ozarks and graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1954 with a degree in Music Education. At Arkansas she was a Kappa Kappa Gamma.

Anne was a school teacher in Fort Smith, Arkansas where she met and married the very handsome Lt. Maynard Roberts who was the love of her life. Following Major Roberts’ retirement, they returned to Jonesboro where they operated Four Seasons Garden Center. He preceded her in death in 1994.

Anne was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Jonesboro where she had directed the Choir and the Children’s Choir. She also maintained their flowers and plants. She was a past president of the Jonesboro Fine Arts Council, and she was also a member of PEO.

Survivors include daughters: Kathleen Roberts of Conway and Lisa Roberts of Memphis; son and daughter-in-law: Mark and Angela Roberts of Kennesaw, Georgia; grandchildren: Michael Roberts, Andrew Roberts and Sarah Roberts; and great grandson, Aaron Roberts; sister and brother-in-law: Paula and Fred Burress of Overland Park, Kansas; nephew: Jay Burress and family; niece: Madeline Burress Sheppard and family.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Jonesboro with Rev. Chris Jones officiating.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
