Mrs. Annamma Vithayathil was a noble and gentle mother, grandmother, and friend who went to her home with Jesus on August 18, 2020. Anna, who also went by the nickname Gracy, brightened the lives of many with her smile, humor, determination, and sense of adventure. An extrovert at her core, she was always up for a good card game, habitually winning with a sparkle in her eye. Born in Kerala, India to the late Dr. K.T. Kurian Mappillachery and his wife, Claramma, Anna was the oldest of four children, followed by surviving siblings Thomas, Xavier, and Thankachy.
As a young woman, Anna married and traveled the globe with her loving husband the late Joseph Vithayathil, Ph.D. Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Their union gifted three children, Joseph, Mary, and Kurian. After a life filled with prayer, laughter, gatherings with family and friends, whipping up her favorite desserts, and marathon walking the latest shopping sale. Anna spent her last years enjoying her family and friends, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In addition to playing cards, her confident focus led her to excel at the bean bag toss and she relished a game of Bingo.
Anna peacefully passed away, surrounded by prayers, at 3:51 p.m. at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph and is survived by her children Joseph (Rosemarie), Mary (Varghese), Kurian (Mini), grandchildren, great grandchildren, and siblings. May she bless us all from heaven.
There will be a funeral mass held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2020 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Jonesboro, Arkansas with Father Alphonse Gollapalli officiating. The visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service.
