Ann McAnear, 90, of Jackson, Tennessee, entered the presence of Jesus Christ, on Sunday, November 23, 2024. She was born on June 30, 1934, in Truman, Arkansas, to the late Barney and Willie Rutherford.
Ann lived a vibrant and full life, finding joy in attending church, basketball, skating, quilting, and crocheting. As a dedicated community leader, she served as a Girl Scout leader, inspiring young minds with her creativity and warmth.
As a devoted follower of Christ, she taught Sunday School at Oakhaven Baptist Church; served with James in the Care Center Ministry at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro; and made 5 trips to Chile to see the church planting ministry of James and Coletta. Due to her influence, two other mission teams from her church went to Chile.
Professionally, Ann worked as a private long-distance telephone operator in Michigan and Memphis; worked 9 years with South Central Bell; as Director of Communications and PBX Department Head for the Methodist Hospital for 6 years; Chief operator at the Peabody Hotel; and Assistant Director of Telecommunications at the Baptist Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1987.
In addition to her parents, Ann is preceded in death by her husband, James McAnear; her 3 sisters: Ina Baker, Nina Walter, and Elaine Milloway.
Ann’s greatest pride and joy were her family. She is survived by her 2 daughters:
Coletta Morsey(James) of Chile, Lisa Autry(Jerry) of Tennessee.
Her 4 grandchildren: Lauren Holmquist(Jeff) of Alabama, T.J. Morsey(Ronna) of California, Chelsea Kee(Buddy)of Mississippi, Chase Autry(Brittany)of North Carolina.
Her 9 great grandchildren: Holmquist – Jubilee 8, Phineas 6, Prudence 2.5, Lois 5 months; Morsey – Zelah 5, Kezia 3, Junia 4 months; Kee – Kyleigh 16, Cohen 3 months.
Ann’s legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. We rejoice that Ann is alive and well with her Savior today.
The visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Emerson Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Macedonia Cemetery with James Morsey officiating. The active pallbearers will be Jerry Autry, Chase Autry, John Dacus, Buddy Kee, David Baker, and James Morsey.
