Amy Renee Gentry

February 6, 1969 — March 10, 2021

Amy Renee Gentry, of Jonesboro AR, received her wings March 10, 2021 due to complications from her long struggle with Type 1 diabetes.  Amy passed away too soon, at the age of 52.

She was born in Helena Arkansas.  Graduated from Arkansas State University.  Amy lived in Beebe, Little Rock, Mountain View and Jonesboro.

Amy loved to volunteer and to celebrate special occasions! Amy had a special heart for animals. She was a volunteer for the humane society.  Amy spent loads of time taking care of all her local wildlife visitors. From deer, turkey to her tiny hummingbirds.  She would spend her early mornings feeding her animal visitors and pets.  Then Amy would sit outside with a cup of coffee, read her daily bible lesson and enjoy nature.    Amy was a member of the local Elks Lodge #498.  She loved supporting our veterans and being involved in fundraisers for a special cause.    In Mountain View, Amy was a member of the “Ozark Scarlet Grannies, Red Hat Chapter”.   Amy was their photographer and social entertainer.  She enjoyed having Red Hatters over for workdays and cooking them delicious meals.  Amy had so many friends.   “The Fab Five” was another group that would just get together and kick it!

When Amy entered a room, the party started.  Amy was full of energy.  You could feel the room come alive.  She was always going at full speed.   Amy was a blast to travel with.  Always full of laughter and quick humor.    Amy loved life and loved her family and friends.   She loved the mountains, the streams. She loved nature.

Amy had many different health issues she fought.  Never did she complain.   She always joked about feeling blessed and wanted to make it to 50.

Amy’s faith in God was strong.  She always said, “I know that someday I’ll be rejoicing in Heaven talking to my Papaw”.    She also stated many times, “I wish I had some good parts to donate to others when I pass” Amy got her wish.  Her skin was able to help a severe burn victim and her gorgeous eyes were used in a cornea transplant so another could see again.

Amy had such a powerful big personality and truly cared for others.   Amy will be missed by so so many.  She is at the feet of Jesus where she knew she would one day be. Until we all meet again, go rest Amy, go rest.

Amy was preceded in death by her grandfather Albert Warren Wood and her father Hays Traylor.

She is survived by her husband, Scott Gentry, step daughter Sarah Jane Gentry, parents Deanna and Chris White,  siblings Adrean Britton, Matt Traylor and Emily Levine.  Stepmother Roberta Traylor.

Memorial will be held at Keller’s Chapel Cemetery at 9am, Saturday April 17 th .   Followed by a celebration of Amy’s life at home, 203 CR 375 Bono, from 10am to 1pm.

Amy asked that no memorial flowers be sent.  She asked to please donate to your local humane society.
