Jonesboro – Mr. Amos Duncan Jr., 71, of Jonesboro, passed away October 26, 2019 at St .Bernard’s Medical Center.
He was born February 6, 1948 in Jasper, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents Amos and Flossy Duncan, and a brother.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Duncan; four siblings all of Jasper, Alabama; a son, Joseph Duncan of Jasper, Alabama; daughter, Kathy Burton of Jasper, Alabama; step daughter, Angela Pry of Jonesboro; step son, Rodney Harris of Batesville, Arkansas; step son, Bobby Harris of Southside, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Luke Burton, Kaylee Duncan, Tristen Pry, Gabriel Pry, Kaylah Shearer, Camron Harris, Nathan Harris, and Clarissa Wyatt, and four great grandchildren.
Amos served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He received a Purple Heart Medal due to being wounded during combat. Amos received various other medals and citations for valor and bravery. He was an active member of various organizations in Craighead County including the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 708, Veterans of Foreign War Post 1991, American Legion Post 21, and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 26. Amos took pride in making sure that other veterans’ were being taken of in Jonesboro and the surrounding areas. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and carpentry.
Services will be held on Monday, November 18 th , at 10am in Birdeye, Arkansas at the Veteran’s Cemetery. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers that family asks that donations be made to the organizations listed above, so that we can continue to take care of our fellow veteran’s.
