Alvin Louis Swan

Alvin Louis Swan, 69, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at St. Bernards Medical Center due to non Covid-19 related health issues. He was born to the late Leo and Thelma Swan on January 2, 1951 in Clarinda, Iowa.

Alvin was called into the Ministry 52 years ago, when he was just 17 years old. He pastored in many states: Missouri, Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, and his last call of duty was Bolivar Pentecostal Jesus Name Church. He was also a missionary in Haiti. Alvin’s heart was a love of God, family, and friends- A man that could not be bought. In his free time, Alvin enjoyed fishing, working in his shop, woodworking, and pulling people’s chains with jokes.

In addition to his parents, Alvin is preceded in death by his first wife, Charolette Gail Swan; children, Timothy Alan Swan, Miracle Dawn Swan, and Calvin Brent Swan; sibling, Joyce Everett; and grandchildren, Gracie Beri and Kyson Beri.

Alvin is survived by his wife Maxine Swan; children, Jeannie Dobbins, Terri (Matt) Drewery, and Angela (Patrick) Beri; siblings, Larry Swan, Mary Beal, Earnest Swan, and Darrell Swan. Alvin also leaves behind a heart full of grandkids, great grandkids, family, and friends.

The visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday, November 13, 2020 from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

The service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Emerson Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Rigsby officiating. Family and friends will be given the opportunity to speak at the service.

Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Springfield, Missouri. The active pallbearers will be George Everett, Jeffery Beal, Dallas Farmer, Tony Whitford, Maurice Redden, and Rev. Gary Bolin. The honorary pallbearers are Michael Schales, Jordan Beri, Dalton Beri, Matt Drewery, Daniel Sparry, and Pat Beri.
