Alvin "Al" Damery Haworth

November 3, 1942 — January 5, 2025

Alvin (Al) Damery Haworth, 82, of Jonesboro, Arkansas passed away suddenly on January 5th, 2025 surrounded by family while enjoying a gathering at his home. Al was born November 3rd, 1942 in Aitkin, Minnesota. The son of Floyd and Mary (Damery) Haworth. Al graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1961 and enlisted in The United States Navy that September. Al left the US Navy and entered college in 1971, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Outdoor Recreation Resources, from Iowa State University.

He worked in the private sector and returned to the US Navy in March of 1980 then later retired in 1991. Al turned his love of nature, and the artistry of willow furniture making into a fulfilling artistic practice. His willow furniture was frequently shown at the Historic Haymarket, Lincoln Nebraska, was showcased in numerous newspaper and magazine articles and adorns the homes of celebrities, athletes and neighbors. Al was a member of The Salvation Army and remained active as a Soldier.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Mary Haworth. His father & mother in-law Vernon and Lucile Breland. His sister Marlee Jensen, brother-in-law Larry Rockwell, and sister-in-law Ouida Mann.

Remaining to honor Al’s memory are his devoted wife of 62 years Gladys Haworth. His children Shannon Haworth (Shannon-Marie, Rachael), Victor Haworth (Carla) and Shanna Haworth (Malissia), his grandchildren Jared Haworth, Jesselyn Haworth, Brooke Haymore, Makayla Brewington, Nathaniel Haworth, Olivia Haworth, Matthew Haworth, Logan Haworth, Tres Long, and Peyten Long. Great-grandchildren Brayden Pollard. His siblings Dwight (Ann) Haworth of Papillion, Nebraska. Marchele Haworth (Steve Dunn) of Grinnell, Iowa. Marliss Rockwell of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Marilyn Haworth (Charlie Johnsen) of Woodbine, Iowa; Brother-in-law Allen (Sandra) Breland.

Al enjoyed the love and respect of a large extended family.

Memorial service will be held Jan 20, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at The Salvation Army Chapel, located at 800 Cate Ave, Jonesboro, AR 72401 with Captain Charles Smith officiating.
