Alvaro "Junior" Barrera

Alvaro “Junior” Barrera, 35, of Jonesboro passed away Sunday, November 17, 2024. He was born January 30, 1989 in Harlingen, Texas to the late Alvaro Barrera Sr. and Maria Muñoz Barrera. Junior enjoyed playing the drums and spending time with family, especially his son and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by his PaPa, Juan Muñoz and a cousin, Lu Garza.

Survivors include his son, Joaquin Barrera of Paragould; grandmother, Consuelo Muñoz of Jonesboro; 2 brothers, Edgar Barrera of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Joshua Barrera of Jonesboro; 4 uncles: Jose Ramon (Jacqueline) Muñoz, Jose Guadalupe (Ana Laura) Muñoz, Daniel (Maria Guadalupe) Muñoz, Juan Gerardo (Olga) Muñoz; 7 aunts: Alma Muñoz, Blanca (Pedro) Rodriguez, Maria L. (Jose) Alejo, Sanjuana (Jose) Garza, Hilda (Jose Luis) Pacheco, Norma (Rufino) Muñoz, Maria Consuelo Muñoz (Dustin) White; 35 cousins: Greg Muñoz, Ana (Andrew) Muñoz-Jones, Nick Mata, Jessie Rodriguez, Jose Muñoz, Brittney (Jared) Muñoz-Barham, Joe Pacheco, Johnny Rodriguez, Daniella Alejo, Cynthia Pacheco, Jose Garza, Aracely Muñoz, Brianna Pacheco, Daniel Muñoz, Gabriel Mata, Andy Garza, Dayanara Alejo, Juan Jose Muñoz, Gerardo Muñoz, Jose Alejo, Idalia Muñoz, Mary Muñoz, Alexander Rodriguez, Mia Mata, Isabella Mata, Abby Muñoz, Camila Muñoz, Leonardo Cruz, Jared Rodriguez, Gabby White, Alexa White, Lola White, Julia Garza, Emma Cruz, Alfredo Muñoz and 2 nephews, Julian Jones, Santiago Jones and a niece Lucia Rodriguez.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Hector Ruiz officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service.
