Alton Eugene Malone, 77, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
Born in Turrell, Alton grew up in Alabama and moved to Dixie in 1951 and was a 1955 graduate of Dixie High School. He lived most of his adult life in Jonesboro and worked several years at G.E.
Alton was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Church of Christ. He enjoyed working on and driving muscle cars particularly Ford Mustangs. Alton was preceded in death by his parents: Wendell and Edna Lang Malone and a grandson, Noah Boyd.
Survivors include his wife, Betsy Spencer Malone of the home;
2 daughters: Cendi Jackson and Beverly Lane (Walter) all of Jonesboro;
1 brother, Dalton Malone (Glenda) of Jacksonville;
2 grandchildren: Ruel Jackson and Alexis Rorex, both of Jonesboro; and
Many loving cousins in Guntersville, Alabama.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Mark Spencer officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Pine Log Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include David Spencer, Jim Spencer, Craig Spencer, Mickey Spencer, Paul Spencer and Darrell Spencer.
Visitation will be Thursday evening, 6-8, at Emerson Funeral Home.
