Alton "Al" Blackburn

Alton “Al” Blackburn, 70, of Jonesboro, died Monday, January 28, 2013 at NEA Baptist Hospital. He had lived in Jonesboro for the past 23 years, moving here from Tennessee. Al was a member of the Nettleton Masonic Lodge #657 and served his country in the US Navy. He was a wonderful husband and caregiver to his loving wife, Sharon. His children and grandchildren were his love and passion. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of twenty-two years, Sharon, of the home; daughters, Jenni Slaughter of Jonesboro; Angela Carter (Sammie) of Monroeville, Alabama; Monica Byrd (Nick) of Lucedale, Mississippi; and Lisa Sewell; twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be announced at a later date, under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home.
