Allen Prescott

Allen Prescott of Jonesboro, was born September 17, 1947, in Jonesboro, AR and passed from this life on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at his home of natural causes.

Allen was lovingly raised by his paternal grandparents, Lester and Lottie (Burton) Prescott. He was of the Freewill Baptist faith and at one time served as the music director of First Freewill in Jonesboro. He was a talented and gifted pianist and vocalist. His love was Southern Gospel and through the years he played piano and sang with various gospel quartets, including the "Gospel Echos," "Watchmen," and "Songsmen." He also gave of his talent for many weddings and funerals in years past. At one time, he also played with Kenny Shaw's jazz band.

Allen was a 1965 graduate of Jonesboro High School and attended Arkansas State University before joining the United States Marine Corps, where he served our country in Vietnam. He worked several years at General Electric Plant in Jonesboro.

He enjoyed fishing, but loved hunting, especially ducks, but also deer and other game.

Allen was preceded in death by his grandparents who were "Mom and Dad" and his biological parents, Helen (Troutt) Bittle and Leslie Floyd Prescott.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Heather Scarlett and husband Matt Scarlett, grandsons Griffin Scarlett and Cameron Scarlett, and granddaughter, Kendyll Scarlett. He is also survived by the mother of his daughter, Tricia Pratt and a longtime hunting buddy and loyal friend, Randy Thompson.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kevin Barnett officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Active pallbearers include Randy Thompson, Norman Jennings, Jimmy Griffin, Danny Hunter, Darrel Sexton and Floyd Inzer. Honorary pallbearers include Griffin Scarlett, Cameron Scarlett, Don Light, Cody Allen Davison, Dru Davison, Demo Gambill and Jack Elam.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
