Alice Guntharp Phipps

Alice Guntharp Phipps, 84, passed from this life, to make her home in Heaven on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, surrounded by her family. Alice was born on May 27, 1939 to H.J and Leona Guntharp.

She was raised in Hoxie until the family moved to Jonesboro her Senior year of High School. She continued to live in Jonesboro the rest of her life. She attended ASU for one year but then decided to start working for her father who purchased “Jonesboro Stockyard and Auction”. She worked there as the bookkeeper and office manager until her father sold it when he retired in the 1980’s. Alice managed three more offices before her retirement-Baldwin Oil Company, Mathews Oil Company, and then RidgePointe Country Club from 1999 until she retired in 2012. Throughout these years Alice also did computer work at home on nights and weekends as a bookkeeper for her younger brother Jim Guntharp D.V.M., for Jonesboro Family Pet Clinic and Dr. Kevin Reed owner of Vetcare. She worked 45 years for the Jonesboro Family Pet Clinic and 30 years for Vetcare.

Faith Freewill Baptist Church, where she was a charter member, was where she loved to go and spend time with her Church family she loved so much. Besides loving God and her Church family, she adored family time with her close-knit family and loved to cook big meals for everyone. The past few weeks she told each of us how much she loved us, as we did her. Nothing was left unsaid.

Alice was preceded in death by both parents and her oldest brother, Bill Guntharp.

She is survived by her younger brother, Jim Guntharp (Kurtiss) of Jonesboro; two daughters, Vicki Tyler (Steven) and Patti Dobson (Mark) all of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, Jordan Guthrey (Caleb) of Little Rock, Jackson Tyler, W. Payne Tyler, Parker Dobson, Elliana Dobson, and Talon Dobson all of Jonesboro. One great granddaughter, Logan Brooke Guthrey of Little Rock.

A visitation will be from 1-2 pm Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Emerson Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a funeral service will commence at 2:00 pm with Chuck Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with active pallbearers being: Luke Guntharp, Jake Guntharp, Josh Guntharp, Parker Dobson, Talon Dobson, Jackson Tyler, and Payne Tyler. Honorary pallbearers will be the Members of Faith Freewill Baptist Church.
