Aliaun Sides

Aliaun (Walker) Sides, of Jonesboro, passed from this life at Craighead Nursing Center on Sunday, April 19, 2015. She was 102 when the lord called her home.

Born October 3, 1912 in Bowman, she was the daughter of Floyd and Minnie Walker. She grew up with five brothers and two sisters. She married Luther M Sides on November 15, 1930 and they had two loving children to share their lives. Expect for a year in California, she lived her whole life in the Jonesboro area.

As a young girl, Mrs. Sides worked in the fields and on the family farm with her siblings. In 1946 she went to work for Frolic Footwear in Jonesboro and retired in 1974 after 28 years of working in the factory. She spoke often of cherished memories of friends and co-workers.

She was a Christian and believed that she will be at Peace with her family and friends in the Lords house. She was a member of the Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Luther M. Sides Sr.; daughter, Joan (Sides) Irvin; son, Luther Sides Jr.; grandson, Michael Steven Sides; father, Floyd Walker; mother, Minnie Walker; brothers’ Henry Walker, Herbert Walker, Vernon, Walker, H.W. Walker all of Jonesboro, and Wiley Walker of California; sisters, Aleene (Walker) Whitley of Michigan and Imogene (Walker) Cooper of California.

Survivors left to cherish her memory include three grandchildren; grandsons, Phillip A. Sides and wife Linda of Harrison, Arkansas and Rick “Butch” Irvin of Jonesboro; granddaughter, Terri (Irvin) Roth and husband Frank of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Lurane Daugherty; great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of treasured friends.

Following Mrs. Sides wishes the body will be cremated and any services will be private.
