Aletrus Kennedy, 85, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, May 21, 2016 at St. Bernards Villa. She had lived in Jonesboro since 1969. Aletrus was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. She was a charter member of the Chalk Bluff Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. As an active member of the Women’s Missionary Union, she was also the past editor of the Homelink newsletter for homebound members of First Baptist Church. Aletrus was known as a master in knitting, crocheting and sewing. She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Kennedy and her parents.
Survivors include her daughters, Jane Overall of Jonesboro; Beth Hale (Thomas) of Russellville; sister, Ruth Ann Mills (Carrol); four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11:00 Wednesday, May, 25, 2016 at Oaklawn Cemetery with Thomas Hale officiating. There will be no public visitation.
