Alda Jean Ramsey of Jonesboro passed from this life Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House at the age of 83. She was born to the late William Harvey and Mary Brady Jean on November 14, 1936 at Clover Bend, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Ramsey, her parents, William and Mary Jean and siblings, Bill Jean, Mary Elizabeth Tanner, Bob Jean and Betty Ann Pope.
Alda grew up in Clover Bend, graduating from Clover Bend High School in 1954. She also attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and earned her degree. Alda went into the teaching profession and taught at several schools in Arkansas over the years. She also taught in Minnesota, Vermont and Missouri. In 1976 she started teaching at McArthur Middle School in Jonesboro and stayed in that positions for last 28 years of her career.
Alda loved spending time with her large extended family which included her siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins. She enjoyed studying the Jean family genealogy and became quite accomplished at that. She volunteered her time to the Clover Bend High School preservation and actively participated in the Clover Bend Community reunions.
Alda is survived by her two sons, Mark Ramsey and his wife Jennifer of Gainesville, Florida and Chris Ramsey and his wife Epiphany of Southaven, Mississippi, her grandchildren, Ethan Ramsey, Erin Ramsey, Meagan Whitson, Shawnee Shivers and four great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express immense gratitude to Dorothy Winters, Glynn Pope and Becky Levitt for the care, friendship, and love they've shown to Alda especially over the last few years.
Due to COVID 19 guidelines, facemask must be worn while at the visitation and funeral. A maximum of 150 persons will be allowed in the building at any given time. At graveside, social distancing is strongly recommended
