A. C. Williams, Sr., 92, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, May 08, 2012, at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center. Born September 16, 1919, in Ripley, Tennessee, to Alvis Augusta Williams and Meadow Ann Dew, he spent his teenage years in Caraway, Arkansas. A member of the U.S. Army during WWII, he served honorably with Allied forces in England, France, Belgium, and Germany. After the war, he moved to Jonesboro, where he raised his family and worked as a home appliance repairman until retirement. A. C. was a member, youth department teacher, and deacon of First Baptist Church in Jonesboro. He enjoyed woodworking and was a selfless individual who found great joy in serving and helping others.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mackanese “Mack” Hargett Williams; sisters, Ruby Green Moore, Cleavie Earl Primm, Lottie Mae Webb, and Letha Jewel Mangrum; and stepbrother, Eutran Abernathy.

Survivors include his son, A. C. Williams, Jr., and wife, Donna; his daughter, Martha Ann Williams, all of Jonesboro; brothers, Kenneth “Jack” Williams of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Edward Lloyd Williams of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Williams Clemons, Taylor Mackenzie Williams, Alexander Cole Williams, and one great grandchild, Mia Elizabeth Clemons.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 12, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dr. Bruce Tippit officiating, and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers include Bob Abbott, Phillip Clemons, Richard Lusby, Alvis Mangrum, Bruce Primm, and Cole Williams. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 Friday night at Emerson.
