Thurman L. Coleman, 81, of Jonesboro passed from this life Sunday, June 3, 2018 at N.E.A Baptist Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born to the late Floyd and Effie Coleman on October 20, 1936 in Craighead County.
Thurman lived in the Jonesboro area his entire life and was of the Methodist belief. He served our country and was a United States Army Veteran. Thurman loved watching football, Nascar Racing, listening to George Jones, family vacations to Hawaii, and most all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was the owner and operator of The Donut Shop for twenty five years and also owned the Totem Pole Pawn Shop for twenty years.
In addition to his parents, Thurman is preceded in death by his brothers: Vernon Coleman and Jimmy Coleman; sister: Inez Lindley; and Granddaughter: Kelsie Faith Jones.
Thurman is survived by his wife, Mary Coleman of the home, and August 8 th would have been their 50 th wedding anniversary; son: Gerald ( Phyllis) Cheshier of Jonesboro; three daughters: Joyce (Bobby) Audas of West Columbia, TX, Joanna (Johnny) Clines of Jonesboro, AR, and Melissa (Eddie) Jones of Greenwood, AR; sister: Dorothy Barber of Jonesboro, AR; eight grandchildren: Amber (Terry) Carr of Lake City, AR, Wayne Cheshier and Ranae Clines both of Jonesboro; Kaitlyn Jones, Caleb Jones, and Gracie Jones all of Greenwood, AR; and Lee Audas and Zoe Audas both of West Columbia, TX; and two great grandchildren: Hayden Carr and Hailey Carr both of Lake City.
A visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Emerson Funeral Home. The ashes will be released in Hawaii upon his request.
